The following text was prepared in 2002. The WWW page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/net/ecma/ contains a link to the document: http://msdn.microsoft.com/net/ecma/WD13Oct01.doc This is described as "Draft 13, September 27, 2001". The WWW page: http://www.ecma.ch/ecma1/STAND/ecma-334.htm contains a link to the document: ftp://ftp.ecma.ch/ecma-st/Ecma-334.pdf This is different from the document at the Microsoft site in that it is dated "December 2001" and it says "Adopted as an ECMA Standard by the General Assembly of December 2001". Then there is the hyperlinked document prepared by Jon Jagger: http://www.jaggersoft.com/csharp_standard/toc.htm I presume that this has been derived from the December 2001 ECMA document. I presume that ISO has taken the ECMA document and want to churn it out as an ISO standard. The appropriate document is "ISO/IEC DIS 23270" and the appropriate ISO page is: http://www.iso.ch/iso/en/stdsdevelopment/techprog/workprog/TechnicalProgrammeProjectDetailPage.TechnicalProgrammeProjectDetail?csnumber=36768 This page says that ISO/IEC DIS 23270 reached stage "40.20" on 2002-02-13 which means "DIS ballot initiated: 5 months". My understanding is that ISO is consulting national bodies to get approval for the Draft International Standard. Hence the involvement of the BSI in the UK and a TAG in the USA. At the BSI's WWW page: http://www.bsi-global.com/Standards+Development/Drafts/sectors/sector2.xalter it says that there is currently a "Draft for Public Comment". The details are: DPC No.: 02/653401 DC Title: Draft ISO/IEC 23270 Information technology - C# Language Specification Comments Due By Date: 31 May 02 Committee Reference: IST/5 As usual with the BSI you have to pay for this DPC. So I don't have a copy, and it is unclear as to whether "02/653401 DC" is identical to the December 2001 ECMA document. The WWW page of the appropriate TAG in the USA is: http://www.jtc1tag.org/Archive/2002/jt020125/jt020125.htm It gives the deadlines as: NCITS/CT22 TAG Rec. Due: May 20, 2002 Anticipated JTC 1 TAG Ballot: May 21, 2002 - June 20, 2002 Possible Reconsideration Period: June 22, 2002 - July 1, 2002 U.S. Vote to ANSI: July 2, 2002 JTC 1 Closing Date: July 14, 2002
