• In April 1999, Sun suggested Java be altered to include generic types.
• In May 1999, this proposal was considered using the Java Community Process (JSR 14) [33].
• In May 2001, a public review took place.
• In July 2004, a proposed final draft was released.
• In September 2004, it was included as part of Java 5.
• The first release of Microsoft's C# language did not include generics.
• These are included in C# 2.0 which was released a few months ago.
• So both languages now have support for generics.
